In 1993, Al Castiglioni and his friend Steve Bianchini opened Chardonnay’s. Since then, the company has added Meritage Restaurant, and evolved into a regional standard bearer of great food, great wine, and great service for guests across Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.

WHAT DOES THE NAME
"MERITAGE" MEAN?
"Meritage," pronounced like "heritage," is a name developed by top winemakers in an international contest to name a new wine category of blended wines.
A Red Meritage a wine must be a blend of two or more of the following varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, St. Macaire, Gros Verdot, and Carmenere. No single variety may make up more than 90 percent of the blend.
A white Meritage is made from a blend of two or more of the following varieties: Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, and Sauvignon Vert., and again, no single variety may make up more than 90 percent of the blend.
